Depending on the type of background check ordered, turnaround times range from a few hours to a few days. Our basic checks search national criminal databases quickly, and the results are nearly instant. Other checks take longer.
Some records are housed in county courthouses and some have been digitized and are held in databases. Records will show up on your background check depending on the type of search you run, and where the records are housed.
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and specific state laws, some offenses can’t legally be shown in background check results and/or can’t be taken into consideration in your hiring process. Many states have their own laws governing the employer’s responsibility in considering these records, and most limit criminal and civil records to seven years, so WorkPast reports 7 years’ worth of data on your personal background check.
In addition to limiting the search to 7 years, WorkPast displays only the records that match your identifiers like first name, last name, date of birth, middle name, address, etc. We do not include any records that do not match at least three of your personal identifiers. But there are thousands of other background checking companies out there, and we cannot guarantee that other background checking companies are as rigorous. This is why WorkPast exists.
